One of the most versatile and cosmopolitan saxophonist in pop, soul and contemporary jazz for over 35 years, Michael Paulo is bringing jazz to Los Angeles with the 1st Annual Asian Heritage Jazz Festival presented by Apaulo Music Productions, featuring some of the most renown Asian Jazz Artists in America, who have made inroads on a national and global scale.

According to Paulo: ” With my lifelong passion for Jazz, I want to host an event unlike any other that focuses on the Asian Culture embracing an American Art form, Jazz. As America is a melting pot of cultures it is important in the assimilation of those cultures to embrace things that are uniquely American. It is through this that we can become a part of the mainstream culture. Also in most instances Asian Americans aren’t readily associated with Jazz. The festival aims to change that perception by featuring as many of the best Asian jazz performers here that we can assemble.  We will have the biggest line up of Asian Jazz artists ever in the US.”

Featured artists: Saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa, Koto June Kuramoto, Vocalist Pauline Wilson, Saxman Michael Paulo, Keyboardist Ming Freeman, Korean Saxman Danny Jung, Piano Legend Rene Paulo, Bassist Benny Rietveld, Vocalist Kemeya Seward, Saxophonist Ner de Leon, Bassist David Inamine , Guitarist Fred Schreuders and Yu Ooka, arranger /composer Derek Nakamoto, Pianist Boy Katindig, Saxophonist Justin Klunk  and more!  Rob Fukuzaki, the weekday sports anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News team in Los Angeles and host of the post-game show Sports Zone will serve as the festival emcee.

This festival will showcase the achievements of these artists, as well as recognize an impressive roster of Asian American musicians, who have contributed their talents to this original American art form. Jazz has become increasingly popular in Asia with The Java Jazz festival in Jakarta, Indonesia, now the largest jazz festival in the world. It is time to highlight and promote our local artists in the United States.

Paulo continues:  “We can also generate opportunities for young up-and-coming talent to gain exposure, play and be inspired by the veteran performers who have had international success.  This is what makes us different than the many other jazz festival events in Southern California. I am committed to its success and very excited to launch this event.”

The festival provides a platform to promote and nurture younger artists who deserve wider recognition, but are unable to break into the mainstream world of major jazz festivals.

The festival will also support the launch of a music scholarship fund to provide opportunities to further insure the future of the Asian culture in embracing this iconic American art form.

The Festival will be held at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center on an outdoor main stage, it is one of the largest ethnic arts and cultural centers of its kind in the United States.

Amoray releasing much anticipated EP Album

Debuted #2 Billboard Dance Charts: Hot Dance Club Play
Debuted #2 Billboard Dance Charts: Hot Dance Club Play

By. Mario G. Racadio Jr.
(San Francisco, California)
Where Neyo meets Stevie Wonder.
A native of San Francisco, California. Amoray has numerous Billboard Hits under his belt including
‘Give it’, ‘Jack it out’, ‘Let it Go’ and ‘Keep your Head Up’ all available in iTunes w/ extended, radio, and club remix.

Breaking News!
Amoray debuted #2 on Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Charts as Breakout Artist.

Recently released another Billboard chart-topping hits ‘Don’t Say it ‘ is available on iTunes to download. Apart from his hits, Amoray also embarking in another milestones of his career, which is chosen to be included in Promo Only Video with Global exposure.

Before even hitting Billboard Charts, Amoray had written all his music and did all the vocals as well. Most recordings released by his own independent label Knockout Fashion Records and legendary Producer Manny Lehman. Recently featured in Abercrombie & Fitch compilations, UK Charts, and King of Spin Charts.

He has also worked with top EDM (Electronic Dance Music) producers such as Klubjumpers, Mike Rizzo, Mr Mig team Funk Generation, and H3d Rush. Also featuring remixes by Edson Pride, Paul Goodyear, Funk3d, Timmy Loop, Bill Williams, Disco Delic, and so on.

Let’s find out more with Up close & personal interview with Amoray.

What motivated you to become a recording artist?
I have been in the performing art’s for 20 years in Dancing, Acting and Singing. I have been recording demo’s for years and have sung with various groups also doing musical theatre it’s always been in the cards for me to become a Recording Artist and it was all about timing. Another thing is the right songs that fit the trends of the music business. Once I got the right songs and producer I’m ready to work.

Where do you get inspiration?
I’m inspired by my first teacher to music by my mother and father they were lover’s of all types of music from Gospel , blues, great soul R&B singers and Reggae music was played almost everyday in our house. These things also inspired me to respect the quality of great voices like Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Sylvester, Bob Marley and so on. I love some of the new talents in music industry like Neyo, Usher, Beyoncé and strangely Nikki Minaj. I’m also inspired by everyday experiences and new things people adventures that’s inspires for my melodies. I write my songs for current times and situations. I just keep my ears and eyes open and the inspiration just pours in.

What do you do to unwind? Hobbies ?
I like to spend time with a few close friends, we almost never talk about the music business. It’s more of my listening to them and what’s going on in their lives. It really relaxes me to just chill, eat amazing food like salads are my favorites. Road trips are great to just filling the car with gas and let the wind take you. Spa’s are awesome and I’m love massage therapy. I’m also into some sports like Tennis and Swimming these are things I have been into since high School. But most of all, if I’m very sleep deprived I need catching up with at least 8 hour sleep.

What advice can you give to start-up artist?
The best advice I can give anyone that want to be a professional artist is to get a great vocal coach and study hard to learn about what your voice can do. Also make wise choices, you don’t have to be involved in everything just the right things that will help you propel to your goal. Also surround yourself with people who believe in what your doing. That will empower and motivates you. There is nothing worse than having haters around you it will only bring you down. One more thing if you are a independent artist be ready to invest in yourself. Take care of your business like copyrights and publishing it only cost a few dollars to secure your music.

If given a chance to work with any artist/producers who would that be?
David Guetta, Motto Blanco, Jennifer Hudson, Neyo, Tony Moran, Manny Lehman wish came true on the new EP “Don’t Say It” there are so many more.

Hollywood Debut as Celebrity Podcaster at #BloodRansom Red Carpet 10.28.14

Season 2 |September 2014| Hollywood experienced were memorable with Janet Nepales (Hollywood Journalist) last August 2014 during Season 1 Finale. |Season 2 Premiere| Where Film maker meets The Bookman: amazing interviews with Philip Anthony of Alba Productions (Produced Dr. Tess Show & On Your Marc w/Marc Anthony Nicholas: 3rd Time Emmy Nominated Producer of The Talk). He was pleasant and answered all the questions with inspiring advice to youth. In addition, The Bookman of UCLA was indeed an inspiration interview because Michael Comaduran helped lower income family to invest in education, which is a set of book to educate young individuals from Math to Science courses.Unexpectedly, booking interviews was kinda challenging sometimes. Have to be consistent and persistent in contacting publicists and managers until they will agree on schedule. Luckily, was able to booked in advance for two months ahead of schedule. Imagine just to get a yes for one guest was already a challenge, all the more for the entire season especially prepping for pre and post productions; the questions, topics, and promos indeed. That’s why having correspondents can make a show easier indeed. Thanks to Pearl & Mariebeth for being persistent and hardworking individual. The most memorable interview for the month of September was Jim Paredes, kinda stars struck in a way because love listening to his music growing up as a teen in the Philippines. Can’t tell though over audio recordings. Anyhow, he was gracious enough to answer all questions. A very down-to-earth indeed. Lastly, he even tweeted his interviews over his 700K friends, wow! was in cloud 9. |Historical MIFAA (75 Most Influential Filipino Americans of 2014)| presented by MGR Records & #BlogtalkwithMJRacadio Since October is Fil-Am History Month so it’s appropriate to recognized and honor fellow Fil-Ams. Created this lists of people and did researched for almost two weeks. Originally released 50 but in a later time changed to 75 MIFA. The sole purpose of the lists was to unify Fil-Ams, recognized their contributions to society and community. Empower others. Surprisingly, the response were overwhelming after releasing the 75 MIFA of 2014, inbox from social network were buzzing in from New York to Hollywood. I said “is this really happening, wow! I did something cool to the community and bring them together. |Before making it to Hollywood| was able to interviewed most notable Fil-Ams such as Fritz Friedman (Veteran publicists of Sony Pictures)very down to earth person, inspiring, and really care about the community he said ” If I don’t believe or have confident in any of it, I don’t participate”; Dr. Tess was so humble and refreshing, cannot imagine she is America’s Favorite Dermatologist according to her “When home, I’m just Tess, a mother” Wow! She definitely an awesome good role model to young generation. Lastly, Ted Benito (Executive Director of Apl De Ap Foundation) was very gracious and fellow Manongs, private conversations were amazing and catch up with being Ilocanos, and his favorite food was Pinakbet. Definitely have something in common with Ted not only for the love of fellowmen rather inspire and empower them. Thanking him for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime to launch as celebrity Podcaster in Hollywood during Blood Ransom premiere. October 2014 |Hollywood Debut| One day, contacted a Hollywood MUA Maxitone, the Artist obliged to do an interview and thought its kinda cool to do it. Little did I know this MUA is very popular in Hollywood, credentials included BET, Golden Globes, Grammys and so on. Offered PR services so the MUA agreed and got invited in Hollywood to cover the event at The RedBurry Hotel in the heart of Hollywood. Witnessed the glitz and glamour but behind the scenes was a lot of work. Interviewing influential people in the red carpet was fun and nerve-wracking at the same time. Guess what? was able to re-connect with long time friend Esmeralda now she’s Mrs. Asian Las Vegas. 2014. Imagine never seen her since 2002 back in Vegas, as they say everything happened in Vegas Stays in Vegas definitely  not our friendship though. She was still stunning despite having a kid, wow! So proud of her accomplishments. Another surprise! Janet & Ruben Nepales was at the event, the power couple of Hollywood Foreign Press Association, such a thrill to see them. Also met Hollywood Designer Alan Del Rosario and took selfie with him. Really had a blast mingled with VIP in the heart of Hollywood never in my wildest dream. Two women approached if I’m one of the Basco Brothers I said “no I’m covering the event.” MUA said you look like Hollywood Celebrity, “I said thank you” replied you should try acting, I replied “Really?” . Before The Hollywood Debut as Celebrity Podcaster Got invited by Andy Edralin of Filipino Press Club, a Press Conference of Blood Ransom in Glendale. The place was jam-packed with journalist and celebrities and awesome food. Finally met Ted Benito and offered something to drink so ordered mango juice. What a night of press and good company including Peter Gonzaga (Pacific Rim Video), Sthanlee Mirador (Hollywood Celebrity Photographer) and so on . By the way, was able to asked Anne Curtis (Filipino Super Star) a very cool questions. What can we expect from you in this movie? Anne Curtis “Something that you never seen before because never portrayed a vampire”. |Oh boy! Disaster| Before the Hollywood Premiere of Blood Ransom a lot of things happened. First, booking a hotel before the event was not a good idea. Second, the hotel it’s away from Hollywood. Third, arriving in the hotel was a disaster because the front desk refuse a service so completely canceled the reservation without valid reason. Fourth, dealing with the LA traffic was worst, at same time assistant calling hotel close to sunset blvd. Finally, the hotel was booked but I have only 30 minutes to get ready before checking in to the Hollywood Premiere. Wow! Thought wouldn’t able to make it. Oh boy! Never ever book a hotel again before any event in Los Angeles. What a surprised? to see my name next to Hollywood Red Carpet where all the Celebrity Walks & Interviews.
