November 21, 2018, (Toronto, Canada) 30 years in the making. Philippines’ first eco-couture John Ablaza, has done it again and showcased craftsmanship and promoting sustainable materials from the Philippines to its finest last November 17, 2018, at the Toronto, Pavilion.

Prior to the fashion show, Star Circle talents took the center stage around 4PM, performing songs from the Greatest Showman.

His designs from tree bark to coco beads that helped artisans and Mangyan women in providing a livelihood in Mindoro and parts of Metro Manila.

Ablaza also has been helping St. Martin De Porres (School for Autistic and Down Syndrome Children) in providing school supplies and renovation of the school in Cebu City.. Importantly, Ablaza now focuses in the mentorship program to young designers and artisans to hone their talents and skills. Particularly, he started it in Zimbabwe, Africa, a project of the U.S. Embassy in Harare headed by Former Ambassador Harry Thomas and the wife Mithi Aquino-Thomas. Lastly, the first quarter of 2019 Mr. Ablaza’s scheduled to return to Africa to continue what he started along with world-renowned photographer, Filbert Kung. It’s true because Mr. Ablaza stay grounded for over 30 years in the fashion industry. He has been constantly promoting the Philippines through fashion by using indigenous materials and helping local communities to uplift their lives by giving them livelihood and helping the less fortunate from Cebu to Africa. Now this time, giving back to the fashion industry by empowering models, photographers, make-up artists, artisans and future fashion designers. Hollywood, California (November 29, 2016) High-end fashion is all about glamour, beauty and sophistication although there is one designer who can change the perspective of fashion. His name is John Ablaza, Philippines first eco-couture designer, he has been in the fashion design industry for over 29 years but what really sets him apart is the way he collaborated with individuals from other local designers to photographers. For example, he recently had a successful collaborations with local artisans in Zimbabwe, which aims to educate future designers in making sustainable materials yet elegant. According to John, he enjoyed Zimbabwe because they welcomed him with open-arms led by Mithi Aquino-Thomas, the wife of US Ambassador Harry Thomas of Harare. He added “I enjoyed hanging-out with the young kids at the village, it’s worth every time spent there”. In addition, John would like to continue his legacy by helping others through his advocacy.

His new designs will be featured during couture & culture fashion show on December 10, 2016 at the One UN New York Hotel in New York City along with selected VIP Guests, that will benefit Zimbabwe collaboration (Benefiting the children of Silozwane, Bulawayo). In addition, John Ablaza will closely working with volunteers and friends in New York City including the models of Presko led by Velzon Velez, top-notch photographers like Alex Tupaz and Jhenny Evans, CHHC event planner expert Helsey Lubiano, Joy Faber of One UN New York,  celebrities like Michael Galante (Jane the Virgin, Switched at Birth), Miss Philippines-USA 2014 Hannah Angelica Marte , Miss New York Tourism, and Zimbabwe Designers.
