LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA, May 05, 2021. Virtual Induction Ceremony of the Filipino American Press Club of California.
The new 2021-2022 Executive Officers, Board of Directors, and Advisory Board of the Filipino American Press Club of California had been virtually inducted successfully last Sunday, May 02, 2021 on Zoom. The West Covina City Mayor, Letty Lopez Viado was the guest speaker and inducting officer while the guest of honor was the new Philippine Consul General of Los Angeles Edgar Badajos who graced the event with his beautiful, moving and challenging message. Also invited to speak was the special guest, Mark Labella, a Filipino-American doctor, actor, writer, and producer.
The program was hosted by the young Miss Samantha Lomibao, national news anchor and producer at One America News or OAN. The program started with the national anthems of both the USA and the Philippines, played respectively with images. It was followed by the welcome remarks of the FAPCCA Founder, President Emeritus, and Chairman of the Program Committee Ms.Thelma Calabio. Then each speaker was introduced by the assigned officers. Co-founder and President Emeritus Andy Edralin introduced Consul General Edgar Badajos, while West Covina City Mayor was introduced by First Vice President Mutch Carino.
President Thelma Sugay introduced special guest Mark Labella while outgoing president Benny Uy introduced incoming president Thelma Sugay who answered the challenge of the Consul General in her speech. The invocation was delivered by Rev. Fr. Marty Silva, SJ who was introduced by President Emeritus Isidric Panganiban.
The host welcomed and introduced each Executive Officer, each member of the Board of Directors, and each member of the Advisory Board. The induction program ended with the closing remarks of Press Relations Officer MJ Racadio.
Live Oath-taking Ceremony was administered by Mayor Letty Lopez Viado who attended the live ceremony and greeted the inductees. After Thelma Sugay’s President’s Address each inductee had a few minutes to speak. Entertainment was performed by singer/actor Aaron Akins, a Nat King Cole sound-alike and Ms. Luz Spanks, media coordinator of La Habra Art Gallery.
It was FAPCCA’s special event to remember.
