(Los Angeles, California, October 18, 2020)–Filipinos indeed have come a long way. We landed in Morro Bay in California’s Central Coast on October 18, 1587 as part of The Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. According to records from (FANHS), Filipino-American National Historical Society, Filipinos described as Yndios Luzones (Luzon Indians from the Northern, Philippines). Therefore, we are celebrating the Filipino-American Heritage Month this October. Despite the pandemic, Fil-Ams did not stop in making a difference in our community especially in American society at large. We have spearheaded the fight against COVID-19 with our fellow front-liners including doctors, nurses, caregivers, farmers, supermarket employees, public servants, entertainment industry, fashion designers, and so on. Fil-Ams truly stands out because of resilience and love for our fellowmen. This year’s 75 Most Influential Filipino-Americans are the following.
